The Ultimate HTC Vive Traveling Guide

Conventions, conferences, private events - to say I travel with my Vive a lot is an understatement. Here is my list of traveling cases that are cost effective to something more sturdy that I wouldn't mind taking on a plane. Backpack for SLR/DSLR Cameras

The most cost effective for someone who is on the go. All of the Vive accessories will fit in this backpack. You can customize the velcro inserts to try to keep things from shifting around. The bag isn't padded much, and because of this, I wouldn’t suggest flying with your equipment in this bag.

PROS

• The most compact and on-the-go option
• Velcro sections can be moved and repositioned to accommodate all the Vive accessories
• It’s cheap!

CONS

• There little padding to protect your equipment from accidental impacts.
• Although you can reposition the velcro inserts, the inserts are not customized for the Vive HMD, lighthouses, or controllers
• Your equipment can become damaged from shifting around

Pelican 1504 Case with Padded Dividers

The Pelican 1504 delivers a robust traveling case for the Vive. This ATA approved case is perfect for traveling with on a plane.

PROS

• Pelican provides a limited lifetime warranty for the case
• ATA (Air Transportation Association) Approved
• You can lock the case with a padlock

CONS

• Although you can reposition the padded dividers, the inserts are not customized for the Vive HMD, lighthouses, or controllers

Pelican 1550 Case & Pluck Foam

This case works great with the Pelican 1550 Lid Organizer (pictured above). Pluck the foam to craft a secure carrying case for your equipment. Design exactly what you need; Got 3 controllers and 3 basestations? Not a problem for this case.

PROS

• Completely customize the interior of the case for your needs
• Equipment won't become damaged from shifting around
• Has wheels and telescoping handle for moving around

CONS

• Have to pluck the foam design yourself
• Additional Lid Organizer necessary

Pelican IM2600 with Custom Foam

BaseReality made this case specifically for traveling with the HTC Vive. While it is durable and secure just like the Pelican cases above, the custom foam also means it is slightly more expensive. The case comes with a dual-layer design that allows you to store all of your accessories, headphones, and much more. The red inserts make it easier to see where everything belongs and help you identify what is missing when you are packing up.
